The Energy Users’ Association of Australia (EUAA) congratulates Australian Paper and Suez on their joint venture to establish a waste to energy facility at the Maryvale Mill which has been announced today.

“This exciting project creates new jobs, on-site energy and meaningful waste reduction and is a great example of the innovation that large energy users are identifying and using to protect their future in Australia,” said EUAA Chief Executive Officer, Mr Andrew Richards.

“With so many changes taking place in our energy markets, it’s great to see this type of innovation by large energy users that will also take the load off the grid, reduce energy costs and increase energy productivity.”

“We congratulate Australian Paper and Suez for this terrific achievement.”

The EUAA is the peak national body representing major Australian electricity and gas users. Our membership covers a broad cross-section of the Australian economy including significant retail, mining, manufacturing, healthcare, raw materials and food processing industries.

Combined, EUAA members employ over 1 million Australians and pay billions in energy bills every year.  Producing many every day items used by the community each day, large energy users are acutely aware of their responsibility to their customers. They are actively engaged in managing their energy use, energy sustainability and energy productivity to ensure they keep downward pressure on energy use and costs.

Australian Paper is a member of the EUAA.
